MESKI SUDAH ANTISIPASI, DBD MASIH MEWABAH

DENGUE FEVER INCREASING UNDER ANTICIPATION

Melalui surat edaran Walikota, baik kerja bakti maupun pembentukan juru pemantau jentik (jumantik).

Yuli

Despite a huge effort to do preventative actions, until February 2016, dengue fever has claimed 2 lives of 77 reported cases of the fever in Probolinggo City. Therefore the city administration has declared an extraordinary situation (KLB) status.

Any anticipation effort has been made which are an issemination on Aedes Aegypti mosquito nest eradication or locally known as, community service, and the establishment of mosquito larvae controllers or locally known as jumantik. It was publicly spread through a Mayor circular letter, sent to any institutions, hotels, bankings, even Islamic boarding schools.

Then, an interactive dialogue at local radio Suara Radio FM, regular control by jumantik volunteers once a week, and larvae control by the medical staffs of community health centre once in three months. And also the fogging focus based on the epidemic investigation, and to provide health facilities followed by a report 24 hours a day. “We have done maximum effort, but the the awareness of the people is stil minimum. They prefer fogging to mosquito nest eradication. This can be proven by the survey of ABJ in several villages,” said drg. Ninik Ira Wibawati.

Probolinggo City Health Agency told Link Go about the region of which the Larvae Free Index (ABJ) is still low. The national target of ABJ is ≥95%, and the city could not achieve it since it is still on 81.03%. Therefore the city needs to increase the number of jumantik, at least 1 jumantik for 1 house. The survey of ABJ on villages is still either low. “We encourage region with low ABJ to be more intense to eradicate mosquito nest. Hopefully, it could hold down the number of patients with dengue fever,” said the smiley woman.

An important point to be considered is when Probolinggo Mayor Rukmini visited the dengue fever patients at the hospital (15/2) and to the house of the patients (16/2). She was on purpose to visit the patients to give a direct insemination on mosquito nest eradication. “Please, have your house clean and check your bathroom and the water bowl of your pets. There should be 1 jumantik volunteer for 1 house,” Rukmini told the people when she visited the victim.

The head of city council, H. Agus Riyanto, said the same thing when the council held a hearing with the local health agency and the regional hospital. He also visited the patients of dengue fever, checking the condition of the surrounding environment, and receiving people’s aspiration. “I have visited a patient in Mangunharjo village. I found a puddle that can be the nest of mosquitos. Unfortunately, people consider that fogging is the best way to prevent the fever. Therefore, Commission C of city council has asked to the health agency to hold insemination often. Although they told us that they have done the prevention efforts maximally,” he said.
