(famydecta/humas)

After handing over assistance to the people of Kanigaran District last week on Wednesday (3/13), it is now the turn of 270 people of Kedopok District who received food social assistance from the regional budget (APBD) and other 2,286 people receiving non-cash food assistance program from the national budget (BPNT).

At the hall of Kedopok District, the Social Affairs Agency also handed over equipment for 30 elderly, and equipment for 22 people with disabilities. Assistance submitted in the form of business equipment such as storefronts, kitchen utensils, sewing machines, bicycles for sellers of toys, prosthetic limbs and wheelchairs.

The recipients of this assistance were from Jrebeng Kulon, Kedopok, Jrebeng Wetan, Sumber Wetan, Kareng Lor and Jrebeng Lor sub-district. Attended the event that morning were Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin, Vice Mayor Muhammad Soufis Subri, General Administrative Affairs Assistant Budiono Wirawan and a number of heads of the working units (OPD).

Head of the Social Affairs Agency Zainullah stated this assistance program is an effort to reduce poverty in the city. “The government wants to help to reduce the burden on citizens who are categorized in poverty data. Hopefully, the poverty trend will be decreasing for the next coming years,” he said.

Food assistance is provided to improve community nutrition. Meanwhile, assistance for the elderly and disabled aims to empower and training them to remain productive.

This assistance is evidence of the government’s presence and attention to the people who need help. The assistance provided is expected to not be misdirected. “The target is really for the economically disadvantaged people. Hopefully, it can ease the burden,” said Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin.

Habib Hadi stressed that in his leadership there would be no help that was misdirected. If there are people who are economically disadvantaged but have not received assistance, it can be reported to the RT / RW or sub-district office and will be budgeted in the coming year.

“All will be submitted in stages. I also asked the community to support government programs. Don’t just blame the government but you can say your aspiration politely because, we, the government, must also have a mistake. Let’s develop the city together,” he added.

On that occasion, the mayor also sent a message to the community, if there were school-age children who had not or had dropped out of school, to immediately report to RT / RW or sub-district office. “Report it immediately, because schools in Probolinggo city, especially elementary and junior high schools are free of charge. God willing, starting this year is free. If it is at the high school level, it is the provincial authority and is also free,” said Habib Hadi.
