(famydecta/humas)

The aesthetic value of the northern side of the city square area has been disrupted with the sight of dumpsters or waste container of which the wastes are scattered outside of them. At the evening, the location of dumpsters is next to the food center and commercial kid playground.

Today (21/6), Vice Mayor Mochammad Soufis Subri have the dumpsters relocated. He ordered Environment Agency (DLH) to hang a banner urging to dispose the waste responsibly. The agency of Public Order and Fire Fighter have to put its personnel and vehicle standby so that there would be no more people dispose the waste irresponsibly at the site.

This was stated on the coordination meeting on waste at the northern side of city square led by Vice Mayor Subri, and attended by Assistant for Economy Development Ahmad Sudiyanto, the head of DLH Budi Krisyanto, the head of Public Order Agency Agus Efendi, the head of Mayangan Sub-district Office M Abas, representative of Housing and Settlement Agency, DKUPP and the head of Sukabumi and Mayangan Urban Village office.

“If we don’t take this seriously, the waste problem would not be over. This was based on the complaint made by the people, but in this case, they have to understand that the dumpsters were originally used for the street vendors at the square. Yet, people dispose their waste at the site as well,” Subri said.

Prior to this, the Environment Agency (DLH) has put 30 dumpsters at the city square. The vice mayor then asked to reduce the number into 10 dumpsters before being reduced into 5. Yet, the waste was still scattered around the street. “The huge volume of waste and misplacing of them have turned into people doing bad habit (dispose waste irresponsibly). It is quite disruptive and gives off a bad smell. For a trial, I want it sterilized. No dumpsters at the city square!” the vice mayor made an affirm the statement.

Responding to this, the head of Sub-districts and the head of urban villages made a letter circulated to the people telling about this matter. For the street vendors, they were told to have their portable waste bag.

“The team from the Environment Agency will collect the waste on certain hours. So, the vendors do not need to dispose the waste around the square,” Budi Krisyanto added.

Related to the relocation, DLH is planning to move the dumpsters temporarily on Jl KH Mansur (the western side close to train railway). There would be no bad smell and it is temporary since the Environment Agency will pick it up immediately.

The Public Order Agency has made its commitment to have this policy run well. “If there is anyone who disposes the waste at the former site of the dumpsters, we will have them pick it up. They have to dispose the waste to the temporary landfill provided by DLH or directly to the landfill,” Agus Efendi said.
