Pasti masyarakat bertanya-tanya, kok KPK hadir, siapa diperiksa? Bukan.

The Roadshow of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of the Republic of Indonesia, “Explore the Country, Build Anti-Corruption” has finally arrived in Probolinggo city. Starting from Tuesday (16/7) until Wednesday (17/7), there would be many events held by KPK in collaboration with Probolinggo municipal administration, as a media to give education of anti-corruption to all elements of people.

The event held in the front of the mayor’s office is publicly open. Anyone can come to the event and get the information they are looking for, especially related to how KPK build and embed the anti-corruption culture in Indonesia.

The roadshow was initially held in 2014. In 2019, the KPK bus roadshow will travel to 28 cities/regencies in Central Java, East Java, and Bali Province. Probolinggo city is the 7th city the KPK team visits.

“We (KPK) are here to get our programs in preventing corruption closer to the people. They must be wondering why we are here, who is going to be inspected? No. We are here to have collaboration with the Probolinggo municipal administration,” the Field Coordinator of KPK Bus Roadshow, Epi Handayani, said, in the dialogue at the Suarakota Radio, Monday (15/7).

The bus is a symbol of the involvement of several working units (OPD) in the city administration. “We also invite the inspectorate to have dissemination to the internal auditors on how to create prevention on corruption, together with KPK,” said the woman familiarly called Teteh Epi.

Education Anti-corruption

In addition to internal dissemination and anti-corruption campaign, public services have been provided at the front yard of the mayor’s office. Under the Law of KPK, the anti-corruption institution has another function to provide education of anti-corruption for elementary school until college students.

KPK puts the value of anti-corruption to the kids in moral teaching like not to dispose the waste irresponsibly, not being late to go to school, not teaching, and discipline in making a queue.

There are 9 characteristic values of anti-corruption being campaigned including Honest, Care, Independent, Discipline, Responsibility, Hard Work, Wise, Brave, and Fair.

The Director of Public Complaints of KPK, Cahya Hardianto Harefa added the roadshow is held to give education on anti-corruption prevention, the properties of state officials and to give services to the public.

People are expected to get closer with the anti-corruption prevention efforts. If they have already known about corruption, they would not be corruptive. People, along with KPK and the government will prevent corruption.

“The arrest (of corruption suspect) is to give a deterrent effect. A system to prevent people from doing corruption and to make them difficult to do corruption must be made. As a consequence, they would not be corruptive. This is what we expect. The arrest is not the only solution; we need to provide a system to prevent any corruptive action. A system to make the governmental administrative officers and the business doers are no longer to do corruption. This is what we expect,” Cahya said in a press conference, Monday (15/7), at the Shaba Bina Praja.

This is a good opportunity for all people. Inside the bus, they can ask about many things, especially on the procedure to make a report of any corruption allegation; what the best way is to report the allegation to avoid any slander.

“We are here to prevent any corruption, especially in Probolinggo city. A great system must be made to make people realize and say no to corruption. That is what we expect of having the three-day event in Probolinggo city. Together with KPK, let us build the country with anti-corruption,” added Cahya, accompanied by Assistant for Administrative Affairs Budiono Wirawan, Acting Inspector Tartib Goenawan, and the Head of Public Relation and Protocol Department, Mardi Prihatini.
